1. About this policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Ceromancy (operated by New Sunny LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use waxreading.com.

We have written this policy in plain language. If you have questions, contact us at support@waxreading.com.

2. What we collect

We collect a small amount of information when you use the Service:

You provide directly:

The photograph of your wax that you upload
A question or topic you choose to share with your reading
Your email address (collected through Stripe at checkout)

Collected automatically:

Browser session data stored locally on your device (used to remember your reading session)
Basic technical information (browser type, device type) for troubleshooting

Collected by third-party services:

Stripe collects payment information (card number, billing details). We never see or store this. See Stripe's privacy policy for details.
Standard server logs (IP address, request times) for operational purposes

We do not collect:

Your name (unless you choose to include it in your question)
Your physical address
Your phone number
Any government identification
Any biometric data

3. How we use your information

Your wax photograph is used solely to generate your reading. It is uploaded to our servers, processed by an AI system to identify symbols, and displayed back to you as part of your reading. We do not use your photograph for training AI models, marketing, or any other purpose.

Your question is used to personalize your reading.

Your email address is used to:

Send you a copy of your reading
Allow you to recover your reading if you lose your link
Send essential transactional messages (such as receipts)

We do not send marketing emails unless you explicitly opt in.

Browser session data is used only to maintain your reading flow and remember your most recent reading.

4. AI processing

We use OpenAI's services to generate your readings. When we send your photograph and question to OpenAI:

OpenAI processes the data to generate a response
According to OpenAI's API policies, this data is not used to train their models when accessed via the API
OpenAI may retain the data for a limited period for abuse monitoring before deleting it

5. Storage

Your reading and the photographs you upload are stored on Supabase, a service provider used for our database and file storage. The data is retained for as long as it is needed to provide the Service to you, including allowing you to access your reading via email recovery.

If you would like your data deleted, please email support@waxreading.com with the email address you used at checkout. We will delete your reading, photograph, and email from our records within 30 days.

6. Sharing your information

We do not sell your information.

We share your information with third parties only in these limited cases:

Service providers that help us run the Service (Stripe for payment, OpenAI for AI processing, Supabase for storage, Resend for email). These providers are bound by their own privacy policies and may only use your data to provide their services to us.
Legal requests when required by law, court order, or to protect our legal rights.
Business transfers if we merge with or are acquired by another company. In that case, your information may transfer to the new entity, subject to the same privacy commitments.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information:

Right to access the data we hold about you
Right to deletion of your data
Right to correction of inaccurate data
Right to portability of your data

To exercise these rights, email support@waxreading.com with the email address you used at checkout. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are in the European Union, you have rights under the GDPR. If you are in California, you have rights under the CCPA. We will honor those rights regardless of where we are based.

8. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as you may want to access your reading. Specifically:

Reading content and photographs: kept until you request deletion or for up to 2 years after creation, whichever comes first
Email addresses: kept for the same period
Payment records (handled by Stripe): retained according to Stripe's policies and applicable financial regulations

9. Security

We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information:

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS)
Stored data is protected by access controls
Payment information is handled exclusively by Stripe and never stored on our servers

No system is perfectly secure. While we work to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach occurs, we will notify affected users as required by law.

10. Cookies and similar technologies

We use minimal cookies and browser storage:

Essential session storage to remember your in-progress reading
Stripe uses cookies during checkout to process your payment securely

We do not use advertising cookies, analytics that track you across sites, or tracking pixels.

11. Children

The Service is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the Service, please contact us and we will delete the related data.

12. International users

The Service is operated from the United States. By using the Service, you understand that your data will be transferred to and stored in the United States. The privacy laws of the United States may differ from those of your country.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will indicate the date of the most recent update at the top of this page. Significant changes will be highlighted on the Service.
